Description of Work: Installation and upgrade of a Radio Fire Alarm system
Duration: January – April 2015
Background:
This is a Grade II listed property owned by Hampshire County Council and is used as one of their main offices within the centre of Winchester. This 5 storey building has undergone a major refurbishment throughout, which was carried out by Raymond Brown Construction.
Scope:
Wessex Fire and Security were invited by Hampshire County Council (HCC) to carry out a full radio site survey of the building in preparation for the design and installation of a new radio based fire alarm system. Wessex Fire & Security subsequently secured the contracted for a complete fire alarm system replacement and worked closley with Raymond Brown during the building’s phased refurbishment.
The building was occupied during the course of the contract and Wessex Fire & Security engineers worked hard to ensure full fire alarm protection was maintained until all building works had been completed.
The works involved interlinking the new fire alarm with other existing electrical services and the removal of the old fire alarm upon completion. Phil Yeates, one of our surveyors carried out the initial radio survey.
