Emergency Lighting Systems

In the event of a fire or power outage, emergency lighting ensures that lighting is provided promptly, automatically and in the most appropriate locations, making sure people can evacuate your buildings quickly and safely.

What type of lighting?

It is a legal requirement that non-domestic buildings must be safe at all times, even if a mains power failure occurs. Emergency lighting is a vital safety precaution for people moving about and exiting your premises.

Most new buildings have emergency lighting installed during construction and Wessex frequently work with surveyors and architects at the planning stage to advise on and supply the appropriate system. For existing premises Wessex will carry out an initial consultation and design in collaboration with the responsible person and fire risk assessor. Together we will propose a plan detailing the areas to be covered, the type and power supply of the lighting, the mode of operation, facilities and duration.

Appropriate, effective, safe

Wessex can help any business navigate the huge range of choices to be made when designing the most appropriate emergency lighting system for your premises. We can then supply, install and provide maintenance for your system ongoing.

There is a huge range of Emergency Lighting options available including variations in power supply type (self-contained or central battery), operation mode (maintained or non-maintained) and duration. Location of the lighting is also vital with units and signs needing to be sited to clearly show the routes leading to the final exit of the business, taking into consideration changes in floor level and corridor intersections. Wessex can help you cut through all this complexity and create the most effective system to keep your employees, and customers, safe.
