Description of Work: Repairs and Void Property Works
Duration: 2006 – Ongoing
Since 2010, Wessex has been providing Stonewater Housing Association (formerly known as Raglan) with a comprehensive electrical works service across a large proportion of its 12,000 homes.
We were initially approached by Stonewater shortly before the collapse of their principal repairs partner, Connaught Social Housing Maintenance, with a view to taking on electrical and associated repairs across Dorset in the event Connaught were unable to trade. Subsequently Wessex were able to quickly mobilise the contract and Stonewater Housing found Wessex to be extremely competent and flexible, so much so that they swiftly expanded the contract to incorporate the full range of repairs and maintenance to some 1,500 occupied and void homes.
When performance problems by another Stonewater contractor in Hampshire and West Sussex led to their being removed from the approved suppliers list, Wessex were asked to step in and provide the same service to a further 1,500 homes. In total, we are now providing a responsive repairs and voids service to approaching 5,000 Raglan social rented and leased homes.
In addition to this, we won three further term contracts with Stonewater in 2011 to provide electrical works nationally across all 12,000 or so social rented and leasehold homes. Within these In these contracts, we provide:
- Electrical testing – A nine year contract worth c£300,000 a year. We carry out a programme of approximately 1,500 fixed wiring tests a year in a huge area stretching from Torbay across to Kent and East Anglia to Greater Manchester in the North.
- Storage heater replacement – a nine year contract worth c£2 million a year.
- PAT testing at all Stonewater offices and sheltered and supported housing schemes with facilities and equipment.
“We have had previous dealings with parts of the Wessex Group and have always found them to be professional, reliable and helpful. Their ability to rally resources so quickly in the midst of the incumbent company suffering from the recession was a huge benefit to us. You ask Wessex to do a job and it’s done.”
Andy McKenzie, Electrical Services Manager, Stonewater Housing
