Description of Work: Upgrade CCTV control equipment
Purbeck School is a Comprehensive school located in the market town of Wareham in Dorset. The School’s ageing analogue CCTV Control system was worn and obsolete and Wessex was called in to upgrade the equipment.
Wessex Fire & Security installed an IP (Internet Protocol) based controller and, using low cost encoders, were able to transfer the existing school CCTV camera system onto the IP platform. The work was completed at a cost little more than would otherwise have been spent on a simple DVR (Digital Video Recorder) upgrade.
The upgrade has enabled faster event search times and maximum retention of image quality for live viewing. Minimum image degradation when zooming allows the school to identify people and vehicle number plates. Utilising the schools IT network also allows system expansion for additional cameras if necessary.
James Bray, IT Manager. said “I was very happy with the upgrade to our old CCTV system. Wessex recommended a new controller that gave us many new features, while supporting our old cameras in order to keep down the cost of this unexpected upgrade. The engineers that performed the install were very professional, and followed up the initial installation with site visits to help us get the most out of the new Avigilon system. I would wholeheartedly recommend Wessex Fire & Security to anyone planning to modernise their CCTV system.”
