Description of Work: Installation & Maintenance of CCTV, Fire and Intruder Alarm Systems
Background:
Hills Waste Solutions are one of the largest waste companies in the UK, dating back to the early 1900’s when they started their business in Swindon. They currently recycle over 230,000 tonnes of waste a year and operate a number of sites in and around Wiltshire and undertake kerbside and recycling collections for Wiltshire Council. Boscombe Down is their newest waste transfer station, where recycling and refuse materials are sorted and then sent to be recycled or converted from waste to energy.
Scope:
The installation of the Fire & Security systems was undertaken whilst much of the site was in operation and our works were safely managed to have minimal impact on the day-to-day running of the site.
Based upon the Client’s specific needs we installed air sampling equipment to give the quickest means of incipient stage fire detection. The CCTV system provides high quality site-wide images and incorporates automatic number plate recognition software, which is used to manage the access and movement of vehicles around site and through their weighbridge system. All buildings on site are protected by high quality intruder alarm systems which, like the fire and CCTV systems, are monitored 24/7.
Recycling centres are high Fire & Security risk environment; Wessex Fire & Security have a great deal of specialist knowledge and experience of protecting such sites.
