Do I need a Service & Maintenance Contract with my Alarm?
What is a service and maintenance contract?

A service and maintenance contract works similarly to insurance on your mobile phone. It is an annual subscription to ensure your fire and security devices are working effectively throughout the year, with the added benefit of having an engineer physically check the system routinely to reduce the likelihood of false alarms.

Service and maintenance contracts can be created for Fire, Intruder and CCTV systems installed by us or another installer, to comply with UK regulations. To find out more about these regulations, please see a list of our accreditations on the bottom of homepage here.

By having your system regularly service and maintained it can often reduce the end user insurance premiums and give greater life expectancy to the system.

What is included in a service and maintenance package?

As part of the contract you will receive a minimum of one yearly service on your alarm, in which an engineer will visit your home or premises and conduct a thorough investigation into your panel and devices to make sure they working correctly and there are no concerning gaps in your homes protection, giving you complete peace of mind.

In addition to this, you also become a priority customer with 24/7 access, 365 days a year to a duty technician and technical support to give you friendly and personalised advice over the phone to resolve any issues you may have, conveniently and free of charge, no matter when you need us. At Wessex Fire & Security we understand you depend on your devices to keep you and your family safe around the clock and as such will prioritise your needs over non-contracted customers.

If the issue cannot be resolved over the phone and an engineer is required to attend, service and maintenance customers also receive preferential call out rates for a fast and reliable same day response.

We also provide information to loss adjusters and insurance companies whenever you need it.

What if my alarm is monitored and communicates with a receiving centre?

Regular servicing and maintenance is a requirement of all communicating alarm systems, to reduce the number of false activations sent to the receiving centre. As part of this we also maintain detailed records of your devices in accordance with the NSI accreditation Scheme and Police policy requirements. Alarm receiving centre staff are also on hand 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to take your call in an emergency, should the worst happen.

How much does a service and maintenance package cost?

All Wessex Fire & Security service and maintenance packages are charged annually and in advance to cover these benefits in the event that you need us urgently. The cost is dependent on the type and size of system you have installed and our sales team would be happy to discuss this with you.
These contracts auto-renew each year to give continuous cover and protection for your premises but if necessary, can be cancelled up to 3 months prior to the renewal date. Any additional charges for parts or callouts are agreed with you in advance to ensure you have complete clarity.
