Wessex has successfully achieved certification against the first international standard for Occupational Health and Safety ISO 45001:2018, replacing its existing OHSAS 18001 certification.
By achieving ISO 45001, Wessex continues to demonstrate a clear focus on legal and regulatory compliance, strong management leadership and an even greater emphasis on risk management and continuous improvement.
The new standard was published in March 2018 with a 3-year transition deadline and Wessex wasted no time embracing the new requirements.
Tracey Martin, Wessex Group QSHE Compliance Manager, explained: “ISO 45001 aligns with other key international standards Wessex has achieved, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for quality management and environmental management respectively. It made perfect sense to align our Occupational Health & Safety management system as soon as possible to strengthen our “Integrated Management System approach”.
Simon Morgan, Group Director, added: “We wasted no time in “upgrading” our certification to the newest Standard, which is testament to the fact that keeping our workforce and those around them safe, remains our top priority.”
