GCHQ Cheltenham
One of our largest projects undertaken by Wessex Fire and Security is for the Government at their New Accommodation Project in Cheltenham, which forms the new GCHQ and is now the centre of all communications.
Construction of the building was under the largest Private Funding Initiative (PFI) in Europe for £337 million - for Dorset - based Wessex that meant a contract value of £2.5 million.
Wessex formed a unique partnership with Gent Ltd and Baldwin Boxall (VAS Equipment) to ensure not only systems interfaced correctly but also they provided the complex cause and effect required.
The Fire Alarm and Voice Evacuation Systems were installed to protect 80,000 square metres of office and corridors using 6000 loudspeakers and 3500 smoke detectors
