Carpenter / Multi-Trade Operative - Salisbury - Property Care


Wessex Response are a family run company based in Dorset, with over 50 years’ experience in the industry. We are currently seeking an experienced Multi-Trade Operative within our Property Care Division.


Duties & responsibilities

To carry out responsive repairs and maintenance as directed and to be part of the on call Rota as and when required, operatives are expected to complete jobs where possible on the first visit to minimize the amount of follow on calls.

To ensure works are carried out to the relevant standard, all rubbish / waste to be cleared away and disposed of correctly

To communicate with all parties in a polite and courteous manner, ensuring all are kept up to date at the end of each day on progress

To be flexible when undertaking duties as required and contribute to the overall success of the team

To use all equipment and materials in a safe manner, complying with Health and safety requirements and code of conduct

To wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

To fully comply with policy and procedures covering, code of conduct, asbestos, sharps, working at height, lone working, all health and safety and equality areas.

To undertake training as required ensuring minimum skill set is maintained and team requirements are met


Skills required

Full range of carpentry repairs; maintenance and installation works.

  • Kitchen cupboards and worktops
  • Internal and external doors and frames
  • Floor/ceiling joists and boarding & Sub floors
  • Structural roofing timbers
  • Fencing of all types
  • External cladding / Fascia / Soffit boarding
  • Timber partitioning
  • 1st and 2nd fix carpentry
  • Fire prevention work – e.g. doors, collars, partitioning


Competencies Required


Neat & Tidy Appearance
Committing to deliver excellent customer service
Diplomatic and Polite 
ICT literacy

City and Guilds Qualified Level 2 (7906) or above / or National recognized qualification within the primary trade required.

Working within deadlines and budget and as a team



PDA knowledge

Basic understanding of NMHF schedule of rates

Previous experience of working within the social housing sector.
