Raglan Housing reached out to Wessex following the collapse of the Connaught Group.
The electrical and plumbing maintenance of a large number of Raglan’s social housing estate had been the responsibility of the Connaught Group for many years. The demise of Connaught PLC left the management team at Raglan with no reactive electrical or plumbing support for over 4,000 of their tenants.
Raglan had previously been impressed by some ad-hoc electrical and security work Wessex Group had undertaken, so naturally turned to Wessex to ask if they could temporarily look after their South West region.
An initial one month trial period was agreed, which was then extended to two months. Subsequently, as Wessex had exceeded Raglan’s expectations, a one year contract was signed to cover all emergency calls across the South West. In addition, Wessex has taken up the management of planned maintenance work together with plumbing and electrical installations.
Wessex Director, Gordon Green, commented; “Whilst the request from Raglan was demanding we were eager to pool our resources from each of our companies and do our best to help.
Although Raglan’s request put a great deal of temporary strain on both our engineering function and administration processes we were delighted we could maintain our standards and provide a service that allowed their 4,000 tenants an unbroken level of support.
As the effects of the recession are still being felt, we recognise the importance of supporting our existing customers with great service, value and reliability. This helps us to strengthen our reputation as a company with strong values and solid financial foundations ready and able to support other businesses and associations if their maintenance contractor is unable to deliver.”
“We have had previous dealings with parts of the Wessex Group and have always found them to be professional, reliable and helpful. Their ability to rally resources so quickly in the midst of the incumbent company suffering from the recession was a huge benefit to us. You ask Wessex to do a job and it’s done.”
